Another Leonardo da Vinci painting discovered?

November 1, 2011

It’s been a busy year in the world of newly discovered Old Master paintings.  There’s the portrait of a woman that some argue is by Leonardo, a pieta by Michelangelo (not sure about that one), a bust-length portrait by Velasquez coming to auction at Bonham’s in December … and now, another Leonardo.  This newly authenticated painting appears in the National Gallery exhibition Leonardo da Vinci – Painter at the Court of Milan opening in London on November 9.  The painting is privately owned … let’s see what happens after this exhibition concludes.

“Salvator Mundi,” a recently authenticated work by Leonardo da Vinci.

As noted in Art Fix Daily, the painting will be featured in an upcoming CNN special. The programming schedule doesn’t indicate air times in the US.  If there are US air dates and/or it’s available on line, a link will be posted on this site.
