Some Gems (?) at Swiss Auction of Old Masters

March 18, 2012

Here are three paintings from the upcoming sale at Koller in Zurich March 30, 2012.  The most expensive is a small still life on copper by Roelant Savery.  The painting’s condition is unclear, but it does appear to be covered in dirty varnish.  Once cleaned, this should be quite nice.   The van der Weyden (workshop) picture is attractive, though light on detailing, while the Bonaiuti (attributed to) is competent if unremarkable.  Click here for the entire catalogue. Let me know what you think.
