August 5, 2012

One of more than 800 artifacts recently repatriated to Afghanistan

Finally, some good news for Afghanistan.  According to Khaama Press: “At least 843 ancient monuments lost during the [1990’s era] civil war were returned back to Kabul museum during an official ceremony.”

A majority of the works, some more than 4,000-years old, were held in safe-keeping in London. In addition, “An Afghan ancient monument which was almost 1800 years old was seized from Japan after it was stolen and sold by smugglers.”
