Report: Suburban Taxpayers Vote to Support Detroit Museum

Property taxes are now part of the Detroit Institute of Art’s revenue.

The New York Times reports that Detroit area residents have approved an increase in property taxes to help fund the Detroit Institute of Arts (the increase amounts to $15 per $150,00 of assessed value). This is an impressive vote of confidence by local residents and a boon for an institution devastated by budget and staff cuts and Detroit’s moribund economy.
